Shaun Lock, MBACP

Person-Centred Psychotherapist

I believe everyone deserves permission to be their true, authentic self. In our work together, I bring not only my professional training but my whole self, to encourage honesty, freedom and real connection in the therapy room.

I have over three decades of experience in a range of therapeutic settings, including The Priory Group, Mind and Essex County Council, working with adults and young people in deep distress, crisis or breakdown. Many people come to me feeling stuck, unable to function as they once did, or weighed down by past experiences. Together, we gently explore these patterns so that you can begin to grow, heal and move forward without being held back by old stories.

I’m warm, non‑judgemental, honest and direct. I’m not fluffy, stuffy or overly clinical, and people who value this straightforward, human way of being tend to connect well with me. I’m not afraid to sit with discomfort or difficult feelings, and I’ll support you to look at your experiences in a true light, where real meaning and fresh understanding can emerge.

My approach is grounded in humanistic, person‑centred therapy. When helpful, I may also draw on ideas from wider psychological perspectives so we can deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships.
